Photo-Therapy: Photography as a Path to Healing
This video was created before the first round of PHOTO-THERAPY workshop, therefore, please disregard the dates that I say. Correct dates are written in the description.
This workshop explores photography as a powerful tool for self-therapy and emotional healing. Through guided projects, participants will use the camera to process difficult life experiences, navigate past traumas, move beyond periods of stagnation, and gain a deeper understanding of themselves and their personal relationships.
Students will be encouraged to choose their own form of expression—whether through self-portraiture, narrative storytelling, photo-diaries, or documentary approaches. The work may center on personal experiences or support others in sharing and working through their stories. We will also talk about various possibilities of combining photography with text, poetry, or drawings, dreams recordings etc., to enrich the visual narratives.
Alongside developing their personal projects, students will also learn how to structure their work in a project format and explore different ways of presenting it publicly in case they wish to do so.
"Photo-Therapy" is not about technical perfection, but about creating honest, expressive, and transformative work. It is a space for exploration, reflection, and growth—using the art of photography as a means of healing and connection.
This workshop will be conducted in a very small and intimate group where people will be invited to share in a trusting and welcoming atmosphere.
