WORKSHOP DESCRIPTION:
The new photographic era has changed our perception of documentary giving birth to a new concept “post-documentary”. In this new concept, reality and fiction are not contradicting each other, but rather supporting each other.

In this workshop, students will learn about various approaches to contemporary documentary and the possibility of crossing boundaries with staged or artistic interpretation in the visual storytelling through open discussions, practical assignments, readings, and slide presentations about photographers working in these intersecting genres.  In addition, during in-class demonstration as well as home assignments, students will learn useful techniques in managing lighting in the out of studio situations. They will learn to create an atmosphere using minimal equipment and non-professional lights available at subject’s home/environment.  An overview of the basic principles of color use in art, and understanding of color as a visual tool which can be used to create a particular physiological or psychological impact, will also be part of the lectures.

This class will also put an emphasis on making a concise editing in order to create a consistent and complete project with a clear narrative and a distinctive stylistic approach.

Fee: 325€ (+ 95€ **optional followup project review session)

** After the 3 days workshop there will be an opportunity to meet again in two or three weeks to review the work progress.
